On Strathearn lawn
Kissed by a boy

I felt the spirit everywhere

I passed the baseball diamond
The gardens and the pool
The train tracks and the churchyard
The hockey rink and school
My memories were overflowing
And my heart was like a bowl
But there was no one here that I knew, not a soul

In Strathearn park
Kissed by a girl
Her hair was dark
She was out of this world

When the wind scattered the leaves on the ground
I felt the spirit all around

Finally I reached the house
Where I was born and raised
I’d been standing there a long time
When I saw a familiar face
It was ol’ Carolina
She said: “Sorry about your mom.”
And when I wept she took me in her arms

It isn’t these places

They’re only the traces
